The public transport network of the TIB (and SFM) manages train transport in Mallorca. Three train lines operate on the island all year round with three different destinations: T1 to Inca, T2 to Sa Pobla and T3 to Manacor. Operated by Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM), train services in Mallorca have been expanding while reopening old closed routes. Mallorca’s railway service is now fully electrified and highly modernised. In the future, there are plans to extend the Palma-Manacor line to Artá and to restore the Palma-Felanich line, among other options that have yet to materialise. But beyond the futuristic aspects of this matter, the reality of Mallorca’s rail transport system today is what we have just told you.

The train service in Mallorca operates between 6:30 am and 11:00 pm. It runs approximately every 10 minutes from Monday to Friday and every 30 minutes on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Fares of the Railway Service: Trains in Mallorca
The Mallorca Rail Service Fares are based on a map of zones and range from a minimum of 0 hops to a maximum of 4 hops or zone changes. The transport consortium of Mallorca states on its official website that the TIB fare system covers all intercity bus, train and metro services on the island of Mallorca. Below you will find a table with the current fares according to the zones into which the train service in Mallorca is divided.

You can buy this ticket at ticket offices or from machines at stations. It can be purchased in cash or by debit or credit card.
Trains in Mallorca: Travelling and paying with a bank card
The bank card (Visa, Mastercard and Maestro), both debit and credit, allows you to travel on the TIB network in Mallorca without having to purchase a ticket beforehand. On the website of the Transport Consortium of Mallorca it is stated that the card simply has to be validated at the entrance and exit of the bus, train or metro. It’s that easy! In addition, using the same bank card offers significant discounts for groups of up to 5 people. IMPORTANT: the bank card must be validated at the stations.
Buying a train ticket in Mallorca
You can buy your ticket to access the train system in Mallorca, either in cash or with a debit or credit card, at the ticket machines available at all stations, and also at the ticket offices at the Intermodal Station in Palma, Inca and Manacor.
The Train of Sóller
Mallorca also operates a kind of vintage train (which is used more as a tourist attraction). Inaugurated in 1912, the Trein of Sóller sums up the founding spirit of the earliest Mallorca and, as its name suggests, it will take you to the village of Sóller. Once in this village you can take the tram that will take you to the Port of Sóller, on the west coast of the island. This is another destination that you should not exclude from your itinerary in Mallorca. This train has its departure point at a station located in Palma de Mallorca, just behind the Intermodal station, the main base or headquarters of Mallorca’s railway system. The Sóller train is a real tourist attraction.
