Wines of Mallorca
The wines of Mallorca enjoy a great reputation and this is no coincidence. More than a thousand years of Roman rule consolidated the cultivation of vines and the production of wine in Mallorca. Only high quality wine is cultivated on the island, rather than mass-produced. Thanks to the climatic and geographical conditions, a wine of unique character is obtained. Mallorcan wines (more than 500 brands of Mallorcan wine) are produced in all the municipalities of the island, but Binissalem in particular is renowned for its exclusive wine products.

The Mallorcan wines with the designation ‘vino de la tierra Mallorca’ (designation of origin: ‘Vino de la tierra Serra de Tramuntana-Costa Nord’, ‘Binissalem’ and ‘Pla i LLevant’) are clean wines with clear aromas that identify the grape varieties from which they come. The predominant aromas are fruity and/or foral, very well balanced, ample and fresh among the white wines. The rosé wines of Mallorca tend towards transparency and brightness in a range of colours that oscillates between pinkish and orange, with a predominance of primary aromas, while the red wines of the Balearic island (round and full-bodied in the mouth), are characterised by their power and the presence of red fruits…
Recognition of Mallorcan wine
Mallorca’s wine producers, mostly small producers, have won much recognition and medals in international competitions and contests. The island has more than 70 wineries spread across the length and breadth of its territory. The area under cultivation has expanded and the range of wines on offer, without overextending itself, has also increased over the last few years. But the best way to get to know the particularities of Mallorcan wine is to visit one of its renowned wineries and enjoy a tasting in situ, where you can learn about the history and production process of the excellent Mallorcan wine. Cheers!
